Our students came out as champions in the National Malay Debate Competition (Secondary Schools) organised by the Malay Youth Literary Association (4PM). 4PM has been organizing debate competitions at tertiary level for the past 20 years. This is the second year the debate competition was opened to secondary schools.
A total of 20 schools participated in this competition. Our team met with 6 schools before making our way to the finals. In the preliminary rounds, our opponents were Madrasah Aljunied, Siglap Secondary, Anderson Secondary and Madrasah Al Maarif. In the quarter finals, we won against Fuchun Secondary School. In the semi finals, we won against Tampines Secondary School. In the finals, we emerged champion against Anglo Chinese School (Independent). The debate motion was ‘Singapore Youth are Caring’ and we are the proposition team. One of our debaters Siti Nur Ariyana Mohd Jani (407) was given the Best Speaker Award in the Finals. She also won the Best Speaker Award in the Quarter and Semi Finals.
