Young Journalists' Club

‘If it matters to you, it matters to us.’

Members of the Young Journalists’ Club embark on an exciting journey into the world of digital photography, videography, in-house publishing and news reporting. These skills are aligned with our school’s Applied Learning Programme in Broadcasting and Journalism through language learning. Acquiring these skills, members explore social and cultural issues, serving as advocates for the student body. In doing so, they serve as a leading force in creating a caring and inclusive school culture. Members also get the opportunity to be appointed as emcees for school events and school reporters for both school events and external school programme or competitions.

Some of the highlights this year include:
  • Students’ participation in the Deyi Arts Fiesta 2019 in which YJC members not only set up and manned a photo booth but also took photographs of the event and contributed to a video production, capturing the hard work of the performing arts CCA students
  • Participation in ‘Our Schools, Our Stories’ Photo Contest 2019
  • Videos shared at school assembly to commemorate major school events such as Chinese New Year, National Day & Teachers’ Day celebrations
  • Participation in the Singapore Kindness Movement as student reporters and photographers, in support of the school event at the Serangoon Bus Interchange where students showed appreciation to Bus Captains
